About Good Light Art Therapy

After 10 years working as an art therapist in the greater Milwaukee area, I decided to open Good Light Art Therapy to help people realize, honor and explore the light within themselves. Through workshops and individualized art therapy sessions, I help clients approach art making through a wellness model which asserts that creativity can be life affirming to all people. Additionally, my approach values both the process and product of art making.

My Story

I’ve loved making art for as long as I can remember. Making things with my hands has helped me feel more connected to my authentic self and explore things which are important to me. I studied studio art in college (painting, printmaking, and sculpture, etc.) as well as many courses in psychology. When I learned about art therapy as a profession in my first semester of college, I had a lightbulb moment – I had no idea there was a career which combined my interests in art, psychology, and helping others!

After graduating, I took advantage of a great opportunity to work at the Toledo Museum of Art (Toledo, OH) and help educators and community members enrich their lives through art.  After about 5 years, my passion for art therapy nudged me to move to Milwaukee in 2011 with my best friend, Raja, and her dog, Winston, to attend Mount Mary University’s (MMU) graduate art therapy program.

Since then, I’ve gained experience as an art therapist in various community and clinical settings, including: schools, med-surg hospitals, behavioral health hospitals, and as a former Americorps Member providing pro bono art therapy.

I have also taught undergraduate and graduate art therapy courses at Alverno College and my alma mater, MMU.
